Hi Vishy, I know this is a little (rather too much) belated
reply for an old post but couldn't resist. Infact this post
- after reading it - caused the same mind set as I read your
earlier post on your ancestral home. Infact I have a similar
post (the context wise) on my blog titled "The Rewind button".
Infact many of R.K.Narayan's writings also evoke the same
kind of feelings.

Seri, too much beating about the bush. I could relate to it
so much because I get nostalgic - I live in memories - not
that I dont relate to present but still cherish old memories
- good or bad. But most times detest from re-living the old
times just out of fear that the current reality could shatter
the pleasant old memories. An old house being pulled down,
a locality turning more posh, friendly small shops replaced by
a giant mall, a very close old friend not reciprocating the way
he used to 10 years ago - things like these and me being so
much 'attached' with the past, even trival things thats do not
look/sound the same way as they used to in the past, cause
a little dejection :) Hmm... I guess that is life...
